The Trump administration took action after Harvard University rejected demands to review its pro-Palestinian protests and its diversity, equity, and inclusion programs.
The U.S. Department of Education decided to freeze the $2.2 billion funding provided to Harvard and a $60 million contract.
"WE WILL NOT ACCEPT TRUMP'S DEMANDS"
Harvard University, which the Trump administration threatened to cut billions of dollars in funding, stated that it would not accept Trump's demands.
HARVARD, COLUMBIA, AND UPENN
Recently in the U.S., there has been a discussion about freezing federal funds to universities, primarily citing pro-Palestinian campus protests and diversity, equity, and inclusion programs. The administration announced that an investigation had been opened to ensure that more than $8.7 billion in grants given to Harvard University by various organizations was used "in accordance with civil rights laws."
PROFESSORS HAD FILED A LAWSUIT
Harvard University professors had filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration's decision to investigate the $8.7 billion in federal funds provided to the school. Columbia University, which was targeted under the Trump administration's "anti-Semitism" policy, also announced that it had decided to comply with government demands to avoid the cut of its $400 million funding.
It was noted that the $175 million in federal funding allocated to the University of Pennsylvania (UPenn) was suspended last month due to a transgender athlete on the school's swimming team.
