Trump nominated Scott Bessent for the Treasury Department.

The elected president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced that he has nominated American investor and hedge fund manager Scott Bessent for the position of Secretary of the Treasury.

Continuing to announce his appointments for the cabinet he will form for the new term, Trump stated in a post on his social media platform Truth Social, "I am very pleased to nominate Scott Bessent to serve as the 79th Secretary of the Treasury of the United States."

Trump noted that Bessent is highly respected as one of the world's leading international investors and geopolitical and economic strategists, stating that Bessent's story is an example of the "American Dream."

Emphasizing that Bessent is a strong advocate of the "America First" agenda, Trump added: "On the eve of our great nation's 250th anniversary, while strengthening our position as the world's leading economy, center of innovation and entrepreneurship, and the most attractive destination for capital, I will help carry the United States into a new Golden Age by unconditionally preserving the status of the US dollar as the world's reserve currency. Unlike past administrations, we will ensure that no American is left behind in the next and greatest economic boom, and Scott will lead this effort for me and the great people of the United States."

Trump stated that his administration will restore "freedom, power, resilience, and efficiency" to American capital markets, expressing that they will revitalize the private sector and help prevent the unsustainable trajectory of federal debt.

Trump conveyed that Bessent will support policies aimed at creating an economy that will enhance the competitiveness of the United States, eliminate unfair trade imbalances, and prioritize growth through global energy dominance.

Scott Bessent, the Founder and CEO of Key Square Group, which provides investment consulting services, has been in the investment management business for over 35 years. It is known that Bessent previously served as the Chief Investment Officer at Soros Fund Management, founded by American billionaire George Soros. Scott Bessent needs to be confirmed by the Senate before he can take office.
