A dangerous threshold has been crossed in the Iran-Israel war. Iran has responded strongly to Israel's airstrikes against the country. Iran launched hypersonic missiles at the city of Haifa in northern Israel, causing violent explosions in the town of Tamra. Using hypersonic missiles, which are highly advanced munitions capable of reaching speeds at least five times the speed of sound, Iran has also rendered the Iron Dome ineffective.
Conflicts between Israel and Iran escalated to a dangerous level during the night after a day of clashes. Iran responded to Israel's "Rising Lion" operation with a missile attack named "True Promise 3." While explosions occurred in the skies of Tehran and Tel Aviv, it was reported that some missiles reached their targets by bypassing Israel's air defense systems.
HYPERSONIC MISSILE ATTACK ON HAIFA
Iran launched hypersonic missiles at the city of Haifa in northern Israel around 11:30 PM. The missile attacks caused explosions in the town of Tamra, located east of Haifa. Initial reports indicate that many civilians were injured, and some structures suffered significant damage.
EXPLOSIONS IN THE SKIES OF TEL AVIV
One of the targets of Iran's large-scale attack with ballistic missiles and drones was Tel Aviv. While numerous explosions occurred in the city skies, Israel's "Iron Dome" air defense system neutralized some missiles. However, it was reported that damage occurred in residential areas during moments when the system was insufficient.
TEHRAN AND HAIFA HIT EACH OTHER
The Israeli army responded to Iran's attacks by striking a fuel depot in Tehran. At the same time, Iranian forces targeted an oil refinery in Haifa. In addition to the material dimension of the conflicts, casualties are also increasing.
It was reported that one person lost their life and 13 others were injured due to the collapse of a two-story building in northern Israel as a result of Iran's missile attack.
WHAT ARE HYPERSONIC MISSILES?
Hypersonic missiles are highly advanced munitions that can reach speeds of at least five times the speed of sound (Mach 5) and beyond. This corresponds to a speed of approximately 1.7 kilometers per second. Thanks to their aerodynamic structure, they can move along unpredictable trajectories in the upper and lower layers of the atmosphere.
These missiles are divided into two main categories:
- Hypersonic Glide Vehicles (HGV): Typically launched to a certain altitude by a ballistic carrier and then glide towards the target.
- Hypersonic Cruise Missiles: Fly at high speeds towards the target using their own engine power.
Israel's effective short and medium-range defense system, the Iron Dome, can be inadequate against the high speed and maneuverability of hypersonic missiles. This situation causes the scale of the conflicts to become much more destructive.
WHAT HAD HAPPENED?
Recently, Israel had conducted attacks on Iran's capital Tehran, the Natanz nuclear facility in Tabriz, Isfahan, and the cities of Lorestan, Kermanshah, Shiraz, Khuzestan, Hamadan, and Qom.
In these attacks, high-ranking military officials, including Iranian Chief of General Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Commander of the Revolutionary Guards Major General Hossein Salami, Commander of the Hatem al-Anbiya Central Headquarters Gholamali Rashid, and Commander of the Revolutionary Guards Air and Space Forces Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, along with six nuclear scientists, lost their lives.
In Israel's attacks on Tehran, civilian residential areas were also hit, and it was reported that many civilians, including women and children, lost their lives. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that they were attacking Iran and that the attacks would continue "until the danger is eliminated." Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz announced that a state of emergency had been declared in the country.
The Israeli army stated that more than 200 fighter jets participated in the attacks, and it was noted that drones were also used. Iran's retaliatory attack began last night, causing destruction in many cities, including Tel Aviv. It was reported that three people died and 172 were injured in Iran's retaliatory attack with ballistic missiles on Israel. Most of the injured were reported to be in stable condition.
