The elected president of the USA, Donald Trump, threatened the EU with tariffs in a post he made on his social media platform, Truth Social. "I WILL IMPLEMENT IT TO THE END"In his post, Trump stated, "I told the European Union that they need to close the enormous gap between the USA and them by purchasing our oil and natural gas on a large scale." He indicated that otherwise, tariffs would be applied to the EU to the end. Last month, Trump announced a tariff plan for products coming from Mexico, Canada, and China when he took office. Trump stated that as one of his first decrees upon taking office, he would sign all necessary documents to impose a 25% tariff on all products coming from Mexico and Canada to the USA and on "ridiculous open borders," saying, "This tariff will remain in effect until we stop the invasion of drugs, especially fentanyl, and all illegal foreigners into our country." ADDITIONAL 10% CUSTOMS DUTYPointing out that most drugs originating from China are transferred to the USA at high levels through Mexico, Trump announced that until this is stopped, they would impose an additional 10% customs duty on all products coming from China to the USA on top of the existing tariffs. Threatening BRICS countries with tariffs, Trump said, "We want these countries to commit that they will not create a new BRICS currency or support any other currency that would replace the strong US dollar. Otherwise, they will face 100% customs tariffs."
