It has been reported that the Donald Trump administration in the United States is working on a new regulation that would impose travel bans or restrictions on certain countries. It is claimed that the countries included in the previous travel ban, such as Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela, will be part of this new regulation, with Afghanistan and Pakistan expected to be added as well.

Two officials with knowledge of the matter, speaking to the New York Times, stated that the new ban would be broader in scope than the ban issued during Trump's first presidential term.

It was reported that in the draft of the new travel ban, which is being circulated for final approval among the U.S. Departments of State, Justice, Homeland Security, and the National Intelligence Agency, some countries that the U.S. sees as threats to national security would be classified as "red," "orange," and "yellow."

60 DAYS WILL BE GIVEN

While a travel ban will be imposed on citizens of red-listed countries, restrictions will be applied to orange-listed countries, and yellow-listed countries will be given 60 days to address their "deficiencies."

AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN ADDED TO THE LIST

While no details were provided regarding orange and yellow-listed countries, it was claimed that the red list would include countries from Trump's previous travel ban, such as Iran, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela, with Afghanistan and Pakistan also expected to be added.

During his first presidential term, Trump's initiation of a travel ban on citizens of these countries, justified by the need to "protect the U.S. from terrorist attacks," had sparked prolonged debates. During the November 2024 presidential election campaigns, Trump stated that if he won, he would reinstate the controversial travel ban he had implemented during his first term in a broader and stronger manner for certain countries with predominantly Muslim populations.
