HE DID NOT REACT TO THE DECISIONTrump, who participated in the hearing online with his lawyer, did not react to the decision. Unconditional release means that Trump's conviction will remain, but he will not be imprisoned, fined, or face probation. IT WILL BE A FIRST IN US HISTORYMoreover, Donald Trump will be the first president in US history to take office after being found guilty by a court. In the "hush money" case, for which Trump was found guilty, a fine and up to 4 years in prison were anticipated. After the request to postpone the sentencing hearing was rejected by the appeals court in New York on January 7, Trump also appealed to the Supreme Court, the final authority, on January 8. TRUMP'S HUSH MONEY CASEDonald Trump was charged by the Manhattan District Attorney's Office on March 18, 2023, in connection with the illegal payment of "hush money" to Stormy Daniels, who acted in adult films, during the 2016 elections. Denying the charges against him, Trump began to be tried in New York on April 15, 2024, and after 6 weeks of hearings, he was found guilty on all 34 charges by the court jury. The US Supreme Court ruled that Trump has "immunity on certain matters" regarding his role in the January 6 Capitol riot and allegations of interference in the 2020 presidential elections. The court decided by a vote of 6 to 3 that Trump has the right to immunity from prosecution due to his official actions, but this immunity does not apply to his private conduct. Following this, Judge Merchan of the New York Court announced that Trump's "hush money" case, for which his sentence is expected to be announced on September 18, 2024, has been postponed until after the November 5, 2024, US Presidential Elections.
