Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Down At Close

BIST 100 falls over 2,900 points.

Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 2.46% to 115,793.59 points at close on Thursday.

After starting the day at 119,348.84 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 2,918.92 points from Wednesday's close of 118,712.51 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 115,634.50 and 119,686.40 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was 841 billion Turkish liras ($122 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 28.4 billion Turkish liras ($4.1 billion).

On the fourth transaction day of the week, 2 stocks on the index rose, 51 were down and the remaining flat compared to Wednesday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by flagship carrier Turkish airlines, glass producers Sisecam and Trakya Cam.

Trakya Cam was the best performer, with its shares up 7.42%, while conglomerate dropped the most, losing 9.78%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,809.45 by market close, up from $1,801.00 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $42.5 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Thursday.
