Taking a critical step in regional security and diplomacy, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are preparing to sign a trilateral joint defense agreement in Jeddah today. According to the agreement confirmed by security sources, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan departed for Saudi Arabia in the morning hours.
Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan are reported to be signing a tripartite joint defense agreement.
According to information obtained from security sources; the contacts carried out on the Ankara, Riyadh, and Islamabad line are being crowned with a strategic signature today. At the summit to be held in Jeddah with high-level participation from Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, the joint defense agreement is expected to be officially put into effect. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan had departed for Saudi Arabia to personally attend these critical meetings.
ACTIVE DIPLOMACY IN GLOBAL CRISES
This powerful defense pact to be signed comes after the critical roles the allied countries have recently undertaken in resolving regional crises. Pakistan, one of the architects of the agreement, has been carrying out active mediation activities to end the US-Iran war; while Turkey has been conducting an intense diplomatic traffic in the diplomatic arena to achieve a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and stop the conflicts.

BILATERAL PLAN TURNED INTO TRIPARTITE ALLIANCE
Steps towards defense cooperation in the region had been on the agenda before. Pakistani and Saudi Arabian authorities had previously announced in a statement that they would sign a joint defense agreement between themselves in 2025. With Turkey's inclusion at the table, this plan expanded and turned into a tripartite and much stronger defense alliance.
