A Syrian man who rode his motorcycle through the streets of Mersin to celebrate the fall of Assad tried to escape when he encountered a police checkpoint. The individual riding the motorcycle was fined by the police. The Syrian motorcyclist shared those moments on his social media account with the note "we got fined."

The regime of Bashar al-Assad was overthrown at the end of the 13-year civil war in Syria. After the opposition forces took control of the capital, Damascus, people across the country took to the streets to celebrate, while Assad fled to Russia.

Assad's overthrow was also met with joy by Syrians in Turkey. One of the provinces where Syrians took to the streets was Mersin. A Syrian who was touring the streets of Mersin on his motorcycle attempted to escape from a checkpoint upon seeing the police. At that moment, losing control of his speed, the individual drove his motorcycle towards the police and was fined. The Syrian motorcyclist, who shared the footage on his social media account, wrote, "we got fined."
