Turkish Red Crescent Assisting Firefighters Battling Marmaris Wildfire

Teams provide hot meal, soup, bread, beverages, water for firefighters, volunteers striving to put out blazes in Aegean coastal town of Marmaris.

As firefighters are battling to contain the wildfire in Türkiye's Aegean coastal town of Marmaris, the Turkish Red Crescent continues its relief efforts, assisting the fire brigade teams.
The Turkish Red Crescent said in a written statement that the aid organization is providing the much-needed assistance to the firefighters and volunteer people fighting blazes in Marmaris, Mugla with its personnel working round the clock.
"The Turkish Red Crescent teams, which provide hot meal, soup, bread, beverages, and water in the region with disaster experts and volunteers, also deliver food materials to employees who cannot come to fixed points with their mobile teams," the statement said.
It added that the emergency department of the organization will "continue to carry out its activities in the region until the fire is brought under control."
The wildfire has affected several forestry areas in the region and it is are mostly taken under control; additionally, one person was detained for intentionally setting fire to the forest.
Many large-scale wildfires were observed in various regions of Türkiye in the previous year, burning swathes of green territories, while some of them were attributed to natural causes, some others were reportedly started by individuals with ill intentions. -
