The Turkish Red Crescent has called for voluntary blood donations to reduce the impact of declining blood donations on hospitals during the month of Ramadan. Citizens are encouraged to donate through donation points that remain open after iftar and mobile teams.

The Turkish Red Crescent has called on citizens to voluntarily donate blood to ensure that the periodic decrease in blood donations during the month of Ramadan does not affect the ongoing needs in hospitals. According to a statement from the organization, the Turkish Red Crescent, which continues its blood donation efforts intensively throughout Ramadan, is also providing services after iftar to make it easier for citizens to donate.

BLOOD IS NOT AN EMERGENCY, IT IS A CONTINUOUS NEED

Within the framework of the understanding that "blood is not an emergency, but a continuous need," donation points are kept open during the hours after iftar, while mobile teams meet with citizens in various areas. The Turkish Red Crescent also accepts blood donations through mobile teams at mosques during the times of the tarawih prayer, at events organized by municipalities specifically for Ramadan, and in public squares. The aim is to provide easier access for donors and to maintain the continuity of blood donations during Ramadan.

THE SYSTEM CONTINUES WITHOUT INTERRUPTION

With the support of voluntary blood donors, the Turkish Red Crescent continues to meet the daily blood and blood product needs of 1,140 hospitals across the country. In the first two months of this year, 444,702 units of blood donations were received, and efforts are being made to ensure that this vital system continues without interruption with the support of more than 4,000 specialized healthcare personnel throughout Ramadan.

The current working hours of donation points can be accessed via the address "kanver.org".
