Turkish Stocks Start Week On High Note

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index up 12 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the week at 1,788.40 points on Monday, up 0.68% or 11.99 points, from the previous close.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased by 2.35% to 1,776.41 points, with a daily trading volume of more than 33.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 12.5940 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 12.4450 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also climbed to 14.1910, compared to 14.0650, while one British pound traded for 16.8070 Turkish liras, up from 16.6650.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $74.65 as of 10 a.m. local time . -
