Turkish Stocks Up Over 1% At Monday's Close

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 rises over 1,170 points from previous close.

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended the day up 1.02% to close at 115,843.01 points on Monday.

After starting the week at 114,776.42 points on Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index climbed 1,174.60 points from 114,668.41 points at last week's close.

During Monday's trading, the BIST 100 hovered between 114,432.08 points and 116,014.58 points -- 75 stocks on the index rose, 21 fell, and four were flat compared to the previous close.

Closing the day with a market value of nearly 834.1 billion Turkish liras ($121.9 billion), the benchmark index posted a daily trading volume of 18.1 billion Turkish liras ($2.65 billion).

Shares of private lender Garanti BBVA, energy company Odas Elektrik, and state lender Halkbank saw the highest trading volumes during the day.

Stocks of energy company Aksa Enerji (AKSEN) were the top gainer with a 6.60% rise, while shares of shares of BIM Birlesik Magazalar (BIMAS), dropped the most, falling 2.65%.

One ounce of gold sold for $1,772.00 by market close, up from $1,759.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $41.30 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Monday, ranging between $40.01 and $41.56.
