Turkiye's Diyanet Foundation Extends Helping Hand To Syrian Child In Azaz

Foundation took action after seeing photo of 8 year old Mustafa walking at night to keep from freezing to death.

Turkiye's Diyanet Foundation has delivered aid to an eight-year-old Syrian boy and his family living in a camp in northern Syria.
The foundation immediately took action after seeing a photo on social media showing Mustafa passing by his mother, who made him walk at night to keep him from freezing to death.
The foundation said in a statement that it had delivered food, a stove, fuel, boots and coats to Mustafa and his brothers living in the camp in Azaz city.
The statement, citing Turkiye Diyanet Foundation's (TDV) Syria coordinator Mahmut Temelli, said life in tent cities has become much more difficult with harsh winter conditions and the foundation has been trying to extend its helping hand to the oppressed since the first day of the war in Syria.
Temelli said in the statement that TDV immediately took action right after they saw Mustafa's photo as his mother made him walk at night in order not to be frozen to death.
The TDV reached out to Mustafa, who was struggling to survive in the tent with his parents and four siblings, Temelli said, adding, "They were really in a difficult situation."
"The beds they used were all wet, they had nothing to burn, and they had no clothes on them to protect themselves from the cold," he noted.
The foundation delivered the winter aid supplies that were provided with the support of philanthropists to the family, he said.
Temelli underlined that they delivered 1000 stoves 100 tons of coal for families living in camps located in northern Syria, adding that TDV provided winter boots and coats to nearly 1000 Syrian children in Idlib, Afrin and Azaz regions.
A civil war has ravaged Syria since early 2011 when the Assad regime cracked down on pro-democracy protesters. According to UN estimates, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million displaced. -
