A fire in an apartment building in Grenoble, France, brought two small children face to face with death. The 10 and 3-year-old siblings, trapped in the rapidly rising flames, had to drop themselves from a height of 9 meters as their only escape route. Six adults waiting below caught the children in mid-air, preventing a tragedy. However, two people suffered broken arms during this heroic intervention.

FIRE QUICKLY ENGULFED THE BUILDING

According to local media and witnesses at the scene, the fire that started on the middle floors of the apartment quickly grew. As smoke filled all the apartments, the two small siblings, with no escape route left, began to call for help from the window.

As the flames approached, the children made their way to the window ledge with the guidance of those waiting below.

NEIGHBORS FORMED A HUMAN CHAIN

At that moment, six people on the street cleared the area where the children could fall and formed a human chain. According to witnesses, the older child first brought their sibling to the edge and dropped them down, then jumped themselves.

Both children survived by falling into the arms of the crowd. Two of the adults who rescued them suffered broken arms due to the impact.

CHILDREN TAKEN TO HOSPITAL

Authorities stated that the children did not have serious injuries but were taken to the hospital for observation due to inhaling heavy smoke. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

"A TRUE EXAMPLE OF COURAGE"

Grenoble Mayor Eric Piolle described the neighborhood residents who rushed to the scene as "heroes," stating, "These people risked their lives to save two children. They prevented a greater tragedy from occurring."
