Two people who were climbing Mount Ağrı, the highest point in Turkey, got lost near the summit due to fog and blizzard. AFAD, UMKE, gendarmerie, and professional mountaineers initiated a search and rescue operation in the area.
Efforts have been initiated to find the 2 individuals who got lost due to adverse weather conditions near the summit while climbing Mount Ağrı, which is the highest point in Turkey.
2 PEOPLE LOST AT THE SUMMIT
2 individuals from a group climbing Mount Ağrı, which is located in the district of Doğubayazıt and has an altitude of 5,137 meters, got stranded at an altitude of 5,050 meters due to fog and blizzard. After a while, the 2 individuals were reported to the 112 Emergency Call Center.
SEARCH AND RESCUE OPERATION INITIATED
The Provincial Disaster and Emergency Management Directorate (AFAD), National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE), and gendarmerie teams were dispatched to the region. Support from a professional mountaineering group was requested to find the missing 2 individuals. It was also learned that one person near the camp at an altitude of 4,200 meters had a broken leg.
