Ümit Özdağ, the leader of the Victory Party, who was detained as part of an investigation initiated for the crime of "insulting the President" and was announced to have been released by party sources, has been referred to the duty magistrate court with a request for his arrest on the charge of "inciting the public to hatred and hostility."
The procedures of Ümit Özdağ, the Chairman of the Victory Party, who was detained in Ankara as part of the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's investigation and brought to the Istanbul Police Department, have been completed. Özdağ, who underwent a health check at Sadi Konuk Training and Research Hospital, was transferred to the Istanbul Courthouse today.
CLAIMS OF RELEASE DENIED
Party sources and lawyers claimed that Özdağ was released after giving his statement at the prosecutor's office in the Istanbul Courthouse in Çağlayan. However, this claim was denied shortly after. The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office stated, "The news that Özdağ has been released is not true. Work is being carried out for a request for precautionary measures."

Özdağ was detained last night at the restaurant where he was dining in Ankara and was transferred to the Istanbul Police Department.
