Update - Turkey's Borsa Istanbul Stocks Down At Daily Close

BIST 100 index falls 0.61 pct from previous close, USD/TRY exchange rate stands around 5.26.

Turkey's benchmark stock index ended Tuesday with a 0.61-percent decline to close at 103,762.46 points.



After opening the day at 104,652.83 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index dropped 632.27 points from the previous close.



Peaking at 104,977.36 points, the BIST 100's daily low was 103,364.50 points during Tuesday's trading, as 33 stocks on the index rose, 63 fell, and four were flat compared to the previous close.



With a market value of 676.6 billion Turkish liras ($128.7 billion), the benchmark index posted a 8.1 billion Turkish liras ($1.53 billion) daily trading volume.



By market capitalization, the leading companies of the BIST 100 were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding ($8.4 billion) and private lenders Garanti Bankasi ($7.27 billion) and Akbank ($6.9 billion).



Turkey's national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti Bankasi and state lender VakifBank recorded the highest trade volumes of the day.



Stocks of supermarket chain Sok Marketler (SOKM) suffered the largest decline on Tuesday -- down 5.54 percent -- while shares of interest-free lender Albaraka Turk (ALBRK) showed the top performance, rising 7.07 percent.



The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.2600 as of the daily close, versus 5.2680 at Monday's close.



One euro traded for 5.9430 liras, compared to 5.9620 at the previous close.



The British pound/Turkish lira exchange rate was 6.7920 by market close, down from Monday's close of 6.8030.



One ounce of gold was sold for $1,311.80 at the daily close in Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, up from $1,307.50 at the previous close.



With a day range of $61.52 to $63.34, the price of Brent oil was around $63.12 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time on Tuesday. -
