WHAT HAPPENED?On February 20, an operation named "Cage-44" was conducted against the organized crime group led by Urfi Çetinkaya, known as the "Turkish Escobar," in Istanbul, Izmir, Afyonkarahisar, Malatya, Antalya, Çanakkale, Bilecik, Muğla, and Balıkesir, resulting in the detention of 43 suspects. The suspects, identified as responsible for a total of 37 tons of drugs, including 13 tons seized in Germany, Bulgaria, Spain, Mauritania, Portugal, and Greece, and 24 tons in Turkey, were found to have conducted international drug trafficking using their own ships, commercial containers, and fishing boats. As part of the investigation, a total of 147 plots of land, 56 residences, 8 apartment buildings, 74 businesses, 53 luxury vehicles, boats, shares in 53 companies, 64 bank accounts, 7 rented safes, as well as numerous jewelry items, cash, and cold wallets, valued at approximately 20 billion, were seized from the crime organization.
