USA LIFTS NAVAL BLOCKADE
The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) made a critical statement that will ease global markets. CENTCOM announced that the naval blockade imposed due to tensions with Iran has officially ended with the signing of the agreement. The statement noted that American forces have removed all restrictions on ship entry and exit to Iranian ports in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
The statement included the following: "Today, U.S. forces, in accordance with the President's directive, have lifted the blockade on all maritime traffic entering and exiting Iranian ports and coastal areas. American forces are not preventing the passage of ships going to or from Iranian ports in the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Gulf."
"U.S. SHIPS WILL CONTINUE TO REMAIN IN THE REGION"
All U.S. military blockade enforcement efforts have ended. Our major Navy vessels will continue to remain in the general area to ensure that all aspects of the agreement are complied with, fulfilled, and fully in force and effective."
14-ITEM AGREEMENT IN EFFECT
Iran and the USA had announced on June 14 that they had reached a 14-item agreement under the mediation process through Pakistan, envisioning the cessation of war and the resolution of issues between the parties through negotiations.
The memorandum of understanding, called the "Islamabad Agreement," was signed digitally by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and U.S. President Donald Trump on June 18 and entered into force.
The agreement includes items such as ending the war including in Lebanon, opening the Strait of Hormuz, and lifting the U.S. naval blockade on Iran.
Following the signing of the memorandum, the parties are expected to begin a 60-day negotiation process shortly on issues such as Iran's nuclear program and the lifting of sanctions to reach a final agreement.
