While the claims that "the government is seizing the lands of the people" are being discussed, Emrah Karaçay, the mayor of Samandağ from the Workers' Party of Turkey (TİP), visited the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum, to express his gratitude for the efforts made for the earthquake victims.
Recently, while the claims of "The government is seizing the land owned by the people" have been frequently voiced, especially by the opposition, Emrah Karaçay, the Mayor of Samandağ from the Turkey Workers' Party (TİP), visited the Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change, Murat Kurum.
THANK YOU FROM THE TİP MAYOR
Mayor Karaçay thanked Minister Kurum for the efforts made for earthquake victims in Samandağ. He stated that contrary to what is reflected, construction efforts for earthquake victims are continuing in cooperation with the central government.
"WHERE IS THE SOLID GROUND IN SAMANDAĞ..."
Minister Kurum, in a live broadcast he attended, responded to criticisms regarding the reserve area in Samandağ by saying, "Look, the liquefaction ground problem next to the Asi River caused those buildings to collapse due to the quality of the buildings, right? Now we have to pay attention to these standards in the new place we will build. We discussed this in Samandağ, just like in other districts. We worked on where the solid ground is. Together with our mayor, we conducted consultations on 'what our citizens want, where they want it to be built.' We made decisions together. We worked on where the solid ground is. If there is public property, we looked at that first. If not, we have to expropriate private lands. There are 2-3 people who are the rightful owners of the land we will expropriate there who are objecting. They can object, and we expropriate by paying whatever the price or value is. Our scientists also say that the solid ground is here, and we are carrying out our expropriation process within that consultation framework. Our mayor also thanked me. When we went there, he kindly showed us that cooperation, saying look, he came to visit us," he stated.
