U.S. Vice President JD Vance visited Armenia on an official trip on February 9. In his meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, JD Vance took critical steps regarding the Armenia-U.S. military and defense partnership, and afterwards, he visited the so-called Armenian genocide monument.
U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance visited Armenia on February 9 as part of an official visit. Vance came to the country with his wife and children. During the visit, one-on-one and expanded format meetings were held between Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance.
CRITICAL AGREEMENTS SIGNED
During the meeting, Vance and Pashinyan signed a joint statement regarding the completion of negotiations for an agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Armenia and the U.S. Government in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy.
THEY PURCHASED DRONES FROM THE U.S.
In the meeting, Armenia purchased V-BAT type unmanned aerial vehicles from the U.S. under the Armenia-U.S. military and defense partnership. Pashinyan stated that significant progress has been made in the Armenia-U.S. military and defense partnership, saying, "As a continuation of our long-standing bilateral security cooperation and the 'Eagle Partner' exercises that have been ongoing for three years, Armenia has purchased V-BAT type unmanned aerial vehicles from the U.S. These systems, proven effective with rich usage experience, will significantly contribute to strengthening our defense capacity."
VISIT TO THE SO-CALLED GENOCIDE MONUMENT
Speaking at a press conference held after the meetings, U.S. Vice President J. D. Vance described his visit to Armenia as historic. Vance said, "What is happening here today carries historical significance. I am truly proud to be the first U.S. Vice President to visit this country. I am eagerly looking forward to spending my day in Armenia tomorrow." Vance visited the so-called Armenian genocide monument during the visit.
