CHP is going through turbulent days due to the alleged exorbitant fees paid to artists on October 29 in Ankara and the appointment of trustees in Istanbul. Following these events, internal opposition within the CHP called for a congress with elections.
While calls for a congress with elections were being made, the 81 provincial heads of the CHP issued a written statement. In the statement, while expressing confidence in Özgür Özel, the following statements were included:
"The party of Atatürk, CHP, became the first party with the great support of our people in the elections held on March 31, 2024, after 47 years. Breaking records, it won 413 mayoralties, and this number continues to increase with participations. The map of Turkey is covered with the colors of our national team. CHP won, the Turkey Alliance won. In the regular polls conducted after the elections, CHP consistently maintains its position as the first party. We have been the first party for eight months. The hope of millions is the CHP government. The saying 'If there is CHP, there is hope' represents hope. Organizations, municipalities, and our esteemed General President are working together with the goal of power.
"THE HEAVIEST ECONOMIC AND POLITICAL CRISES IN HISTORY ARE BEING EXPERIENCED"
Turkey is experiencing one of the heaviest economic and political crises in its history. The agenda of the streets is wages below the hunger line, poverty, and unemployment. Migration and the increasing number of immigrants and the problems they create have reached alarming dimensions. As a result of the government's unsuccessful practices and insufficient measures, we cannot protect our babies and children. Femicide cannot be stopped. We cannot protect our beloved companions.
"WE WILL GIVE THE HARDEST RESPONSE DECISIVELY"
CHP municipalities are alleviating the effects of the crisis with social support efforts aimed at the problems of millions left helpless by the government, while also ensuring trust in the CHP. The pioneering projects of the CHP government are being implemented by the municipalities. Right at this moment, the unjust government has launched an attack campaign by including pro-government media outlets in its attempts to discredit our mayors. The appointment of a trustee in Esenyurt, along with intimidation attempts through the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and Ankara Metropolitan Municipality, has gained momentum. We will not back down; we will give the hardest response decisively. We will show the strongest resistance to attempts to usurp the will of the voters and to attacks on their personalities and services, together with the people.
"OUR DUTY IS TO INCREASE CHP'S VOTE RATE TO 51%"
We have an important task ahead; to raise CHP's position as the first party to at least 51% by also attracting undecided votes, to bring Atatürk's party to power. In this direction, we are all working together in unity and solidarity, from members to district and provincial heads and the general president. We will continue to work tirelessly 24 hours a day. Until we come to power, we will continue the organized struggle alongside every segment of society.
"WE WILL NOT GIVE UP ON THE DEMAND FOR ELECTIONS"
Early elections have now become the demand of the majority of the people; it has become unavoidable. We will not give up on the demand for elections until the ballot box is presented to the people. CHP is a democratic party. It has internal platforms where members and administrators, PM/MYK members, deputies, and mayors can express their suggestions and demands. Every member can use their rights guaranteed by the statute through internal party channels. We will not make any issue that is not on the street's agenda and does not serve our march to power a topic within the party and on social media.
"WE TRUST ÖZGÜR ÖZEL"
We believe in and trust the CHP organizations and our General President Mr. Özgür Özel. While the footsteps of the CHP government are heard in 973 districts across 81 provinces, we declare that the call for a congress is not on our agenda and that we will not give in to attempts to create artificial agendas for personal gain. In accordance with the call made by our General President, we invite all party members, regardless of their title and position, to fight for the real agenda of the people and to work together for the CHP government.
