The report from the Bolu Municipality Fire Department regarding the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel, which claimed the lives of 78 people, has been completed. The report emphasized that due to the extensive damage in the building, no findings indicating intent could be identified. It was suggested that the cause of the fire be evaluated by an expert, and it was reported that the entire building has become unusable.
The report prepared by the Bolu Municipality Fire Department regarding the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel, where 78 people lost their lives, has been completed. In the report of the Fire Department related to the incident that shocked Turkey, it was recorded that the fire at the Grand Kartal Hotel was reported at 03:30, and the teams arrived and intervened at 04:24.
CAUSE OF THE INCIDENT
The report stated, "Based on the statements of the hotel staff who first intervened in the fire and witnesses, as well as our investigations, it has been determined that the fire started from the kitchen/restaurant area located on the 4th floor."
WAS THERE INTENT IN THE FIRE?
The report indicated that the 3rd floor was not the starting point of the fire, but was only affected by it. It was emphasized in the report that due to the extensive damage in the building, no evidence indicating intent could be found, and it was suggested that the cause of the fire be evaluated by an expert.
MORE THAN 50 PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED THROUGH WINDOWS
The report included the following statements:
"When we arrived at the scene, it was observed that the Grand Kartal Hotel was burning with flames. The fire was extinguished by us. More than 50 citizens were evacuated from the windows of their rooms using a ladder truck from the front facade of the hotel. Due to the snowy road and loose ground, access to the back facade of the building with a ladder truck and water tanker was not possible, so one citizen was rescued and evacuated using a jump mattress."
THE ENTIRE BUILDING BECAME UNUSABLE
The report stated that search and rescue operations were carried out on all floors starting from the lobby area, and it was noted, "The entire hotel building has become unusable due to the fire."
