The statement of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB) President Ekrem İmamoğlu, who is under interrogation, has concluded in the corruption investigation. It has been reported that in his statement, which spans 120 pages, İmamoğlu responded to many of the questions posed to him by saying, "I do not consider this question relevant. I vehemently reject all allegations; I have committed no crime."
The Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, was recently detained in a corruption and terrorism investigation. İmamoğlu, who was taken to the police, has completed his statement procedures regarding the corruption investigation.
IMAMOGLU RESPONDS TO ALLEGATIONS: I DO NOT CONSIDER THIS QUESTION
İmamoğlu gave a statement at the Financial Crimes Investigation Unit. İmamoğlu denied the allegations. In his statement, which reached 120 pages, İmamoğlu reportedly responded to many questions directed at him with, "I do not consider this question. I vehemently deny all accusations, I have committed no crime, I strongly reject the allegations, the investigation is aimed at defamation and fabricating crimes, and there is no logical, legal, or convincing aspect to the investigation." İmamoğlu will also be questioned at the Counter-Terrorism Branch.
IMAMOGLU WILL BE TRANSFERRED TO COURT TOMORROW
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office announced that İmamoğlu will be transferred to court tomorrow. The statement said, "It is planned that the suspects detained in the investigations regarding İmamoğlu for being a member of a criminal organization and for aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization will be presented at our courthouse tomorrow around 21:00."
THE OPERATION IN WHICH IMAMOGLU WAS DETAINED
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office initiated an investigation against İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu and 99 suspects for the crimes of "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "embezzlement," "bribery," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender." Additionally, an investigation was launched against İmamoğlu, İBB Deputy Secretary General Mahir Polat, and Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, among 7 suspects, for the crime of "aiding the PKK/KCK terrorist organization."
Following the detention orders, law enforcement agencies took action, detaining 90 suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, İBB Presidential Advisor Murat Ongun, Beylikdüzü Mayor Murat Çalık, Şişli Mayor Resul Emrah Şahan, and singer Ercan Saatçi. The detained suspects are currently undergoing processing at the Istanbul Police Department's Vatan Campus.
