After the earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2, which occurred in the city of Hama in Syria and was felt in many provinces including Hatay, experts were sought for answers. Prof. Dr. Naci Görür said, "We geologists were expecting earthquakes to occur in these areas. We do not expect any movement that could lead to a disaster in the vicinity of Hatay on the Dead Sea fault, so don't worry."

Geologist and Earthquake Scientist Prof. Dr. Naci Görür stated in his statement after the earthquake in the city of Hama in Syria that there is no need to worry.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in the city of Hama in Syria last night at 23:56. The strong tremor was also felt in Hatay, Gaziantep, Adana, and Şanlıurfa. Shortly after the earthquake, an aftershock with a magnitude of 3.8 occurred.

"WE WERE EXPECTING EARTHQUAKES IN THESE AREAS"

In his statement, Prof. Dr. Görür said, "Consecutive earthquakes in Syria. The first one is a precursor and the other is a main earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5. The earthquakes occurred on the continuation of the Dead Sea fault in Hatay and near Hama. The continuation of the Dead Sea fault in Syria, except for the faults on the Arabian Plate, has been ruptured. We geologists were expecting earthquakes in these areas. We do not expect any movement that could lead to a disaster in the vicinity of Hatay on the Dead Sea fault, so do not worry."
