The three-day Ramadan Bayram holiday has been extended to nine days. Following this decision, employees are curious about the holiday pay they will receive. During the holiday, employers are required to pay employees double their daily wage. However, this year, due to the holiday coinciding with a workday, the calculation has changed. Accordingly, an employee who works on March 30 will need to be paid 2.5 times their regular wage.

The Ramadan Feast this year falls on March 30-31 and April 1. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated, "On April 2, 3, and 4, our public employees will be considered on administrative leave. Thus, our nation will have the opportunity to enjoy a total of 9 days off during the holiday." After the decision for a 9-day holiday, employees began to wonder about their holiday work hours.

HERE IS THE CALCULATION METHOD FOR HOLIDAY WORK HOURS

The additional payment made to employees working during religious and official holidays is referred to as holiday work hours. According to the regulations, employees working during the holiday are paid twice their daily wage. For the calculation, the employee's gross salary is divided by 30 to determine their daily earnings, and this amount is paid as holiday work hours at double the rate.

IF ALL MINIMUM WAGE EARNERS WORK DURING THE HOLIDAY, THEY RECEIVE 3,033 TL

The gross minimum wage for 2025 has been set at 26,005 TL. According to the calculation based on this figure, a minimum wage earner's daily earnings amount to 866.85 TL. When they work during the holiday, they receive double this amount, which is 1,733 TL. The total holiday work hours payment for a minimum wage earner working during the holiday period (including the eve day, a total of 3.5 days) will be 3,033 TL.

IF HOLIDAY WORK HOURS COINCIDE WITH THE WEEKEND, IT IS CALCULATED AT 2.5 TIMES

If the holiday coincides with the weekend, the work hours payment is calculated at 2.5 times. In the 2025 Ramadan Feast, the eve day falls on a Saturday, and the first day of the holiday falls on a Sunday. An employee working on these dates will receive a daily payment of 1,300 TL. Thus, with the weekend work hours included, a minimum wage earner working throughout the holiday will receive an additional 3,683 TL in work hours payment.

IF OVERTIME IS WORKED DURING THE HOLIDAY, OVERTIME PAY IS PAID AT 50% MORE

Employees working beyond normal working hours during the holiday are additionally paid overtime. Overtime pay is calculated as 50% more than the holiday work hours payment.
