In the Çiğli district of İzmir, a train passenger, 73-year-old Hamit Öğretim, suddenly collapsed while waiting for the train. A female healthcare worker who was present on the platform noticed that Öğretim’s heart had stopped and immediately began performing CPR. The healthcare worker also used a portable defibrillator during the intervention. It was later learned that the elderly man’s health condition was serious after being taken to the hospital.
73-year-old Hamit Öğretim, who was waiting for a train at the İZBAN Çiğli Station in İzmir, suddenly collapsed and fell to the ground.
HEART MASSAGE AND SHOCK ADMINISTERED ON THE PLATFORM
A woman, who was also a passenger on the same platform and identified as a healthcare worker, noticed that Öğretim’s heart had stopped.
The healthcare worker performed CPR on Öğretim, and the automatic external defibrillator (portable shock device) available at the station was also used in the intervention.
ELDERLY MAN'S CONDITION CRITICAL
After the initial intervention, Öğretim's pulse was restored, and he was taken to Çiğli Training and Research Hospital by health teams. It was learned that Öğretim was intubated and in critical condition while receiving treatment at the hospital. The incident was recorded by the station's security camera.
