On the 3rd anniversary of the February 6 earthquakes, Emlak Konut General Manager Yasir Yılmaz, who made evaluations before the memorial program to be held in Osmaniye, stated that they went to the field immediately after the disaster and that a rapid planning and project process was carried out under the coordination of Minister Kurum. Yılmaz expressed that 455,000 houses have been delivered in 3 years, and as Emlak Konut, 86,000 houses have been delivered to their rightful owners.
Three years have passed since the earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş on February 6. The Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, which has completed construction works in the region, will hold a comprehensive memorial program in Osmaniye this year to commemorate the earthquake martyrs, with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and MHP Chairman Devlet Bahçeli. Prayers will be held for the earthquake martyrs at the ceremony themed "Look at the Strength of My Turkey."
"WE IMMEDIATELY DEPLOYED TO THE FIELD AFTER THE DISASTER" Yasir Yılmaz, General Manager of Emlak Konut, who described the initial works and coordination process carried out after the earthquake, said, "First of all, I wish God's mercy upon all our citizens who lost their lives in the disaster of the century, and I wish patience to the families of those who remain and to our nation. We had quickly deployed to the field right after the disaster. Under the coordination of our Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, Mr. Murat Kurum, planning and project downloading works were primarily carried out in the field. As you know, during the past three years, we delivered 455,000 houses to our citizens with a ceremony we held on December 27 in Hatay, attended by our President. During this process, as Emlak Konut, we also delivered 86,000 houses to our citizens," he said.
"EBRAR SITE WAS ONE OF THE PLACES WITH THE HEAVIEST LOSSES" Yılmaz, who described the works in Ebrar Site, one of the areas where the earthquake's epicenter and the greatest destruction occurred, said, "The works here were carried out under the coordination of the Urban Transformation Directorate, TOKİ, Emlak Konut, and the General Directorate of Construction Works. In fact, the epicenter of the earthquake was Maraş, and Ebrar Site, where we are currently located, was one of the places that suffered the heaviest damage and the most loss of life. It was a site with 22 blocks, where 18 blocks were destroyed, and over 1,400 of our citizens lost their lives. Of course, while we were carrying out these works, the first thing we did was actually soil surveys. After the soil surveys, we implement the recipe that comes out in the field, and here in the site we see, each block had 100 to 150 piles completed to reach solid ground before the reinforced concrete constructions were built," he stated.
"678 HOUSES AND 107 COMMERCIAL AREAS WERE DELIVERED WITHIN 1 YEAR" Sharing information about the delivered houses and the resumption of life in the region, Yılmaz said, "After starting the productions here, within one year, on February 6 of last year, we delivered 678 houses and 107 commercial areas to our citizens. Life has actually continued here for a year. Of course, the pain of our losses still lingers in our hearts, but the delivery of these houses and the beginning of life was also important. Our citizens have been living in these safe houses for a year with peace and security. We see our children playing in the parks. Similarly, all social facilities, schools, and all infrastructure works here were designed and built together for the entire region," he said.
"THE MOST IMPORTANT CRITERION WAS EARTHQUAKE SAFETY" Finally, conveying the security understanding of the new buildings and the feedback received from citizens, Yılmaz said, "Of course, as I mentioned, a year has passed, and during this year, there were actually eight-story blocks here. While we were constructing them on-site, we built them as ground plus five stories. The most important thing was to ensure earthquake safety and disaster safety. Since our citizens are in safe houses, their feedback on all these works done by both TOKİ and Emlak Konut makes us happy. While we are touring the field with our Minister, we continue to be present in a city almost every week. The trust of our citizens, especially in the realization of these projects with the will of our President and the follow-up of our Minister in this process, and the affection in the field makes us happy," he stated.
