Selçuk Yöntem, who is remembered for his character Aslan Akbey in the series Kurtlar Vadisi, explained years later why he left the project. The master actor stated that he believed the series had a negative impact on young people.
One of the master actors of Turkish television, Selçuk Yöntem, made striking statements during an interview on journalist Özlem Gürses' YouTube program. Yöntem explained the reason for his departure from the series Kurtlar Vadisi in such clear terms for the first time.
Yöntem, who is remembered by the audience for his character Aslan Akbey in Kurtlar Vadisi, stated that the series has a strong storyline but expressed that the way crime elements are portrayed disturbed him.
"THOSE WHO COMMIT CRIMES SHOULD BE PUNISHED"
Yöntem mentioned that he believes the portrayal of characters committing crimes without facing consequences creates a wrong perception, using the following statements:
“We evaluated a perspective of the state, mafia, and money barons. We evaluated it very well as a script, but I said at that time; everything develops very quickly, people are killed. There is no police here. Those who commit crimes need to be punished.”
"I THINK IT HAS A BAD IMPACT ON YOUNG PEOPLE"
The master actor also expressed his discomfort with the impact of the series, especially on young viewers:
“Kurtlar Vadisi has negatively affected young people. Everyone is killing each other, nothing happens to anyone, and the thought of 'I can do it too' started to develop. I reacted to this and left the series.”
HE HAD NOT REVEALED HIS TOP 3 PROJECTS
In the program, Selçuk Yöntem also answered questions about his career and shared the three projects he considers the most important in his career among the productions he has participated in:
*Aşk-ı Memnu
*Kurtlar Vadisi
*Üzgünüm Leyla
