With the March inflation, a 10.04% increase for retirees has been confirmed, and it is expected that the total increase will reach 16% in July, with the lowest salary rising to 23,200 TL.
With the announcement of the inflation data for March, the calculations regarding the July raise for retirees and civil servants have been reshaped; according to the first three months' data, the raise rate has been finalized at 10.04 percent.
FIRST THREE MONTHS' RAISE RATE CLARIFIED
With the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announcing the inflation rate for March as 1.94 percent, the three-month inflation difference that will reflect on the salaries of SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees has become 10.04 percent. The inflation data, which was 4.84 percent in January and 2.96 percent in February, gradually formed the raise rate. In line with this data, while half of the path for the raise that millions of retirees will receive has been passed, the remaining three months' data is awaited for the increase to be made in July.
RAISE RATE MAY REACH 16 PERCENT
According to the Central Bank's Market Participants Survey, inflation expectations for April, May, and June have shaped at 2.1 and 1.5 percent, respectively. If these predictions materialize, it is anticipated that the inflation for the first 5 months will reach 14.05 percent, and the total inflation for 6 months will reach around 16 percent. Experts evaluate that inflation may be revised upwards due to global developments and war conditions.
THE LOWEST RETIREMENT SALARY MAY EXCEED 23 THOUSAND TL
With the regulation made at the beginning of 2026, the lowest retirement salary was raised to 20 thousand TL. Considering the first three months' raise of 10.04 percent, this figure rises to 22 thousand 8 TL. If the six-month inflation reaches 16 percent, it is expected that the lowest retirement salary will rise to approximately 23 thousand 200 TL. In this context, it is stated that about 4 million 917 thousand people benefit from the lowest retirement salary application.
CALCULATION FOR SSK AND BAĞ-KUR RETIREES
SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees increase their salaries directly according to the six-month inflation rate. For example, a retiree with a salary of 25 thousand TL will see their monthly salary rise to 27 thousand 510 TL with the current increase of 10.04 percent, while if a 16 percent raise occurs, this amount will reach 29 thousand TL.
DIFFERENT FORMULA FOR CIVIL SERVANTS AND CIVIL SERVANT RETIREES
Civil servants and civil servant retirees receive salary increases based on collective bargaining raises and inflation differences. For civil servants who received an 18.6 percent raise in the first 6 months of 2026, a 7 percent collective bargaining raise will be applied in the second half. If the six-month inflation is 16 percent, an inflation difference of approximately 3.7 percent will occur, and the total raise rate is calculated to be around 11 percent. According to this scenario, the lowest civil servant salary will rise from 59 thousand 896 TL to 66 thousand 484 TL, reaching 67 thousand 484 TL with a 1000 TL fixed increase. A university graduate civil servant's salary will rise to 70 thousand 267 TL. The lowest civil servant retirement salary will also rise to 30 thousand 846 TL.
STARTING RAISES FOR 2026
SSK and BAĞ-KUR retirees will start 2026 with a 12.19 percent raise, while civil servants and civil servant retirees received an 18.6 percent increase and a 1000 TL fixed raise. With the final data to be announced in July, it is expected that the salary increases will be finalized.
