In Yemen, where the Iran-backed Houthis control many cities, an assassination was carried out against a senior security official. In Taiz, the most populous city held by the government, a district police chief was killed when an explosive device placed in his vehicle detonated.
It was reported that the District Police Chief was killed in an assassination in the city of Taiz, located in the southwest of Yemen.
ASSASSINATION OF HIGH-RANKING SECURITY OFFICIAL
According to information obtained from security sources, an explosion occurred while Colonel Abdullah Nakib, the Police Chief of Taiz, was passing through Cemal Street in the city center in his vehicle. Police Chief Nakib, who was taken to the hospital after the explosion, could not be saved and lost his life.
EXPLOSIVES PLACED IN HIS VEHICLE
In a statement from the Yemeni Ministry of Interior, it was expressed that Nakib lost his life as a result of the explosion of explosives placed in his vehicle. Interior Minister Ibrahim Haydan stated that security forces are working to capture the attackers and ensure they receive deterrent punishments by bringing them to justice.

The most populous city in the country, Taiz, is under the control of the Yemeni government, unlike the Iran-backed Houthis. Taiz holds strategic importance as it is located on the main road connecting to southern provinces, especially Aden.
