The sports community is shaken by the 'betting' scandal in the match between Ankaraspor and Nazilli Belediyespor played in the 2nd League. A total of 55 individuals have been referred to the PFDK (Professional Football Disciplinary Committee) for reasons related to "influencing the outcome of the match" and "placing bets." Among the 55 individuals are the club president, 25 players, 1 technical director, and 2 masseurs.
The rooted club of Aegean football, Nazillispor, which was relegated from the 2nd League to the 3rd League, is facing the danger of being dropped to amateur status due to allegations of match-fixing.
NO SHOTS IN 90 MINUTES At the end of April 2024, Ankaraspor faced Nazilli Belediyespor. In the match broadcast live on TFF's YouTube channel, it was noteworthy that neither team managed to take a shot, and there were only 2 corner kicks in 90 minutes.
Additionally, Ankaraspor committed 10 fouls, while Nazilli Belediyespor committed 5 fouls without the referee issuing any cards. After the match, Nazilli Belediyespor secured its place in the league. The TFF announced the disciplinary referrals for the Ankaraspor-Nazilli Belediyespor match 1 year and 4 months later. 25 players, including Nazillispor Club President Şahin Kaya, 1 technical responsible, and 2 masseurs were referred to the PFDK for "betting activities."
The club was referred to the Professional Football Discipline Board (PFDK) due to the controversial Ankaraspor match played on April 28, 2024, on the grounds of "affecting the outcome of the match." President Şahin Kaya, who could not achieve results in his efforts to transfer management at Nazillispor, began to make transfers after months of uncertainty, while the club was referred to the PFDK under Article 56 of the Football Discipline Regulation (FDT) due to match-fixing allegations that occurred 1.5 years ago. Ankaraspor was also referred to the PFDK for the same reason.
LIFETIME BAN FOR ADMINISTRATORS AND PLAYERS In Nazillispor, President Kaya, the management, administrators, the club's coaches, masseurs, and 18 of the 21 players who were in the squad for that match will be tried by the PFDK for match-fixing allegations. Article 56 of the FDT imposes a lifetime ban on those found to have unlawfully affected the outcome or process of a match, while club administrators who commit violations face penalties of relegation to a lower league. Those who do not comply with Article 57, which prohibits direct or indirect betting and similar gambling activities on football matches or any related activities, may face bans from matches or deprivation of rights for 3 months to 1 year.
PRESIDENT ŞAHİN KAYA REFERRED FOR BOTH MATCH-FIXING AND ILLEGAL BETTING While Nazillispor was referred to the PFDK as a club under Article 56 of the FDT, the current president Şahin Kaya was referred to the PFDK for both Article 56 and Article 57 due to betting on football matches on various dates. Club administrators İbrahim Kırdemir, Alican Çakmak, Serdar Ateş, and Ali Kırca were referred under Article 56. The then head coach Gürhan Sönmez, along with coaches Abdurrezzak Murat Türkar and Halit Egesoy, were also referred to the PFDK under Article 56. Except for 3 players from Nazillispor's squad in that match, all were referred to the PFDK for the same offenses. Some players were referred to the board for both match-fixing and illegal betting on that match and on various dates.
18 OUT OF 21 PLAYERS REFERRED TO PFDK FOR MATCH-FIXING AND BETTING From that squad, Ahmet Gökbayrak, Abdullah Beytaş, Ali Karakaya, Barışcan Işık Altunbaş, Canberk Aydemir, Ekin Karakuyu, Ekrem Çalışanlar, Hakkı Can Aksu, Kutsal Manici, Ozan Can Oruç, Özkan Taştemur, Recep Efe Koçak, Salih Kavrazlı, Serhat Aslan, Süleyman Enes Karakaş, Talha Erdoğan, Tibet Öniz, and Yunus Emre Karakaya were referred to the PFDK, facing the possibility of a lifetime ban from football or a penalty of 3 months to 1 year. Only Boran Kaya, Oğuzhan Andaç, and Hüseyin Melih Öztürk, who did not enter the game from that squad, were not referred to the PFDK. Similarly, the opposing team Ankaraspor, along with its administrators, coaches, and players, was also referred to the PFDK for the same allegations. Decisions are expected to be made in the upcoming process.
THE MATCH WITH NO SHOTS The match played between Ankaraspor and Nazillispor on April 28, 2024, in the 2nd League White Group at Etimesgut Municipality Atatürk Stadium had caused controversy at that time. For Nazillispor, which was playing its last match of the season, securing a point was enough to stay in the league, while for Ankaraspor, it was enough to guarantee the Play-Off. However, the fact that no shots were taken throughout the 90 minutes became a topic of discussion. Nazilli stayed in the league with that point, while Zonguldak Kömürspor, which was relegated at the end of the season, filed a complaint alleging match-fixing. In a press conference held regarding the match-fixing allegations, Nazillispor President Şahin Kaya stated, "We don't have the money to fix matches. We couldn't even make transfers because we don't have money. We can't understand how this accusation is made," and alleged that Zonguldak Kömürspor sent incentive bonuses to opponents and referees. The Football Federation referred the match-fixing allegations to the ethics committee. Nazillispor, which stayed in the league that season, was relegated to the 3rd League last year.
STARTED TRANSFERS Nazillispor, which was referred to the PFDK for match-fixing allegations, has also started transfers. Unable to strengthen its squad due to a transfer ban since last year, Nazilli announced last week that amateur transfers would be made and completed 6 transfers.
