The İSBİKE service has not been active since 2023, but it has been revealed that the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has raised prices for this unused system. İBB Council Member Adem Yıldız stated that thousands of bicycles are rotting in storage, calling for "a price increase for a service that does not exist. The bicycles should either be repaired and made available to the public or donated to children."

The Istanbul Bicycle System (İSBİKE), which was put into service by the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, has been idle for a long time due to lack of use. Aerial images show that thousands of bicycles have been moved to storage and vacant lands, and the stations have been damaged due to neglect.
WEEDS GREW AMONG THE BICYCLES
Aerial footage shows that weeds have grown in the areas where the bicycles are located, station cables have come out, and the bicycles have deteriorated due to sun, rain, and snow.
İSBİKE APPLICATION IS NOT ACTIVE
İBB Council Member Adem Yıldız stated that the mobile application of İSBİKE, which started operating in 2013, has not been active since 2023. Yıldız expressed that despite the İSBİKE application being closed, prices have been increased, saying, "Thousands of bicycles have been left to rot. Let's repair these bicycles and present them to the people of Istanbul. If you have given up on this system, let's donate them to schools for children. If you are looking for another method, let's give them away in different cities of Anatolia. Let the bicycles not be wasted."
"INCREASES ON TOP OF INCREASES"
Yıldız said, "The huge system is about to become trash. Please, let's not allow this evil by the CHP-led İBB administration. The tragicomic part is that İSBİKE has not been active since 2023. Bicycles are rotting in storage, but the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality and its administration have absurdly increased prices for a non-existent service. Were we surprised? Of course, we were not surprised. Because this is the mentality of the CHP. While we were expecting the system to be renewed in 2023, while we were hoping for it to be fixed, increases were made on top of increases for a non-existent service," he said.
Here are those images that hurt our conscience;
