The incident occurred on July 27 in Avanos. Elif S. T., who attended her relative's wedding with her family, went to the vapor coming from the liquid nitrogen device used for demonstration while playing with her friends in the hall. During the show, which was conducted without safety precautions, the liquid nitrogen that spurted from the device splashed onto the little girl. Elif's clothes stuck to her body, causing second-degree burns on her skin.

Elif was first taken to Avanos Hospital by her family and then transferred to Nevşehir State Hospital. After the initial intervention there, the little girl was sent to Ankara, where she received treatment in intensive care for 19 days and underwent 7 surgeries.
