In Aksaray, a driver who crashed into a business sign while driving under the influence of alcohol and fled despite the guards' warning to stop was caught in a facility's parking lot. Although he was captured on camera while fleeing, the driver claimed that he was not the one driving the vehicle, telling the police that he had no problems and stating, "The problem is with you." The driver also threatened a journalist and was found to have a blood alcohol level of 1.72 promille.
A driver named Tolga K., who wanted to get into his parked vehicle and reverse out, crashed into the advertising sign of a facility located on the Aksaray-Ankara highway. The guards at the facility, noticing the situation, warned the driver to 'stop'.
SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND FLED
The driver, who did not comply with the warning, accelerated and fled onto the Aksaray-Ankara highway. After the guards announced the vehicle's license plate and the direction in which it fled, the teams from the Regional Traffic Inspection Branch of the Provincial Police Department, which went on alert, caught the vehicle in the parking lot of another facility located 2 kilometers away shortly thereafter.
CLAIMED HE WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE
An interesting dialogue began between the police, who wanted to conduct a breathalyzer test on the driver, and the driver himself, who was subjected to a driver's license and registration check. Despite being identified with photo and video evidence from the City Security System (KGYS) cameras, Tolga K., who claimed he was not driving the vehicle, also refused to blow into the breathalyzer offered by the police.
THREATENED THE JOURNALISTS
Noticing that his vehicle was being photographed by members of the press, the driver stood in front of his license plate and threatened the journalists, saying, "Don't take my plate, I know you, I will find you, today has a tomorrow too." He then removed the front and rear license plates of the vehicle and placed them inside the car.
"I AM NOT A PROBLEMATIC PERSON, YOU ARE THE PROBLEMATIC ONES"
The individual, who repeatedly refused to blow into the breathalyzer offered by the police and claimed he did not drive the vehicle, said, "I am not a problematic person, you are the problematic ones." After long efforts, the driver finally blew into the breathalyzer, which showed a blood alcohol level of 1.72 promille.
SHOCKING FINE
As a result, the individual, whose driver's license was confiscated, was fined a total of 61,458 lira for various offenses, primarily for driving under the influence. While legal proceedings were initiated against the driver for the offense of driving under the influence by the Aksaray Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the driver was taken to the police station for his statement. The vehicle was handed over to a relative called to the scene.
