Due to drought in Izmir, the water cuts that have been in effect since August 6, 2025, have ended as of today following an increase in the reservoir levels.
In a statement made by the General Directorate of İZSU, it was announced that the planned and rotational water cuts implemented in 13 districts since August 6, 2025, due to drought, have ended as of today.
The intermittent heavy rains affecting the city have increased the water level in the Tahtalı Dam Basin, which is İzmir's most important drinking water source.
THE DAM'S WATER LEVEL HAS INCREASED TO 14.88 PERCENT
The total amount of rainfall in the city center since January has reached 330 kilograms per square meter. The active water level of the Tahtalı Dam, which was 0.13 percent on December 30, 2025, has risen to 14.88 percent following the recent rains. While an increase in water levels has also been observed in other dams, this rise in the dams has allowed for a healthier management of water supply throughout the city.
CUTS HAVE ENDED
In a statement from the General Directorate of İZSU, it was reported that the planned and rotational water cuts implemented in İzmir in 13 districts (Karabağlar, Konak, Bornova, Balçova, Narlıdere, Güzelbahçe, Buca, Gaziemir, Karşıyaka, Çiğli, Bayraklı, Menemen, and Menderes) between 11:00 PM and 5:00 AM due to drought since August 6, 2025, will end as of tonight. Authorities stated that planned and rotational water cuts are not scheduled as long as the water levels in the dams do not reach critical levels.
