In Kağıthane, 18-year-old Mekin H. attacked Sedat İ. with a Kalashnikov while he was walking on the street. During the struggle, Sedat İ. managed to grab the weapon and returned fire, escaping the incident with injuries, while the attacker, who was caught by the police, stated that he received the order for the attack from a person nicknamed "Uncle" in exchange for 600,000 lira. A total of 34 shell casings were found at the scene.
Mekin H. (18) launched an armed attack with a Kalashnikov on Sedat İ. (39), who was walking on the street in Kağıthane. Sedat İ., who was injured in the shoulder during the incident, managed to take the Kalashnikov from Mekin H.'s hand during the struggle and returned fire. Mekin H., who fled by getting into a vehicle, crashed into other cars inside the tunnel he entered from the wrong direction. Mekin H. was caught as a result of the police chase. He stated that he received the order for the attack from a person nicknamed "Uncle" in exchange for 600,000 lira, and he was taken into custody. It was learned that 34 shell casings were found at the scene.
The incident occurred on Monday, January 26, around 5:30 AM in the Çağlayan neighborhood. According to the information obtained, while Mekin H. was walking on the street, he opened fire with a Kalashnikov on Sedat İ., who appeared in front of him. After a chase between Sedat İ. and Mekin H., a scuffle ensued. While Sedat İ. was hit with the butt of the rifle, he took the Kalashnikov from Mekin H.'s hand. After returning fire, Mekin H. began to flee by getting into his vehicle with the license plate 34 HMM 617. The events were captured on security cameras.
KAĞITHANE POLICE CAUGHT HIM
Upon hearing the gunshots, the Kağıthane Patrol Teams and the Kağıthane Public Order Bureau teams began to follow the suspect Mekin H., who stopped after hitting a car and then a police vehicle in the Çağlayan Tunnel. Mekin H. was caught by the police along with the gun he had on him. Continuing their investigations, the police stopped a vehicle with the license plate 26 KH 402, driven by Çetin G. (37), on suspicion. Upon checking the inside, the police found Sedat İ. injured. The Kalashnikov next to him was seized.
34 SHELL CASINGS FOUND
Meanwhile, Sedat İ. was taken to Okmeydanı Prof. Dr. Cemil Taşçıoğlu City Hospital by ambulance after the first intervention by the medical teams who arrived at the scene upon notification. It was learned that he was not in life-threatening condition. It was also learned that Sedat İ. had 9 records for crimes such as 'drug use', 'intentional injury', and 'auto theft' in the police database. During the examination conducted at the scene, 34 shell casings were found, 30 of which were Kalashnikov casings.

In his first statement after being taken to the police station, Mekin H. stated that he had arrived in Istanbul 4 days ago and that they had taken the job with a person he knew as Enes in exchange for 600,000 lira from someone nicknamed "Uncle" through a messaging application. It was learned that after his first statement, Mekin H. was transferred to the Organized Crime Fighting Branch Directorate.
