As the echoes of the Jeffrey Epstein scandal reach Europe, a new development has emerged in England that could shake political and diplomatic balances. The Metropolitan Police of London announced that they conducted raids on two separate addresses in London and its surroundings as part of an investigation into "misconduct in public office" concerning Peter Mandelson, the former UK Ambassador to Washington, who has been in the spotlight due to his connections with Epstein.

The Metropolitan Police of London confirmed that searches were conducted at two separate addresses as part of an investigation into former UK Ambassador to Washington, Peter Mandelson, who is known to have connections with billionaire Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in prison while being tried for allegedly running a sexual exploitation and prostitution ring targeting underage girls in the US.

SEARCHES CONDUCTED AT TWO ADDRESSES

Assistant Commissioner Hayley Sewart of the Metropolitan Police of London stated in a written statement that teams from the central specialist crime unit executed search warrants at two addresses located in Wiltshire and Camden.

Sewart noted that the searches were carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of "misconduct in public office."

NO ARREST OF THE 72-YEAR-OLD SUSPECT

The statement recorded that the investigation is linked to a 72-year-old man, emphasizing that no arrests have been made at this stage. Authorities expressed that the investigation is being conducted in a multifaceted manner.

REFERRED TO EPSTEIN AS "MY BEST FRIEND"

In correspondence that emerged in the US on September 9, 2025, it was seen that Mandelson, who began his role as the UK Ambassador to Washington in February 2025, referred to Epstein as "my best friend."

In a birthday message Mandelson sent to Epstein, it was stated, "You would wait for hours for him to come. Most of the time, when you got used to having him around, you would suddenly find yourself alone again. Instead, you would be left with some interesting friends you had to entertain."

$75,000 AND INAPPROPRIATE PHOTOS

Following the public disclosure of the correspondence, documents that later emerged revealed that the former ambassador received $75,000 from Epstein. Additionally, it was reported that inappropriate photos with underage girls were published.

Mandelson claimed that he did not remember the said money transfer.

RESIGNATIONS FOLLOWED ONE AFTER ANOTHER

As the scandal grew, Peter Mandelson resigned first from the Labour Party and then from the House of Lords.

APOLOGY FROM STARMER

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed regret for appointing Mandelson as ambassador and apologized to the public.
