Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 37 suspects were apprehended in the operation against the usury organized crime group in Şanlıurfa, 23 of whom were arrested, and assets worth 804 million lira were seized.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya announced that 37 suspects were caught and 23 of them were arrested in operations against the usury organized crime group in Şanlıurfa. In a post on his social media account, Minister Yerlikaya stated, "In the operation carried out by our gendarmerie against the usury organized crime group in Şanlıurfa, we captured 37 suspects with 4.2 billion lira in account transactions. 23 were arrested, and judicial control measures were applied to 14. As a result of MASAK data, approximately 804 million lira worth of assets belonging to the suspects; 20 real estate properties, 55 vehicles, and 1,145 bank accounts were seized. Additionally, 12 companies were appointed a trustee by the TMSF. As a result of the efforts carried out by our Şanlıurfa Provincial Gendarmerie Command in coordination with our Şanlıurfa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and the Gendarmerie KOM Department; in operations supported by 545 gendarmerie personnel and Gendarmerie UAV (JİHA) at 45 different addresses, it was determined that the suspects pressured our citizens to whom they lent money at high interest rates, forced them to sign checks and promissory notes as collateral for the money lent at high interest, and seized the assets of citizens who could not make payments through threats and pressure.
