Following the request to suspend the activities of the CHP Istanbul Extraordinary Provincial Congress by the 45th Civil Court of First Instance in Istanbul, a sharp decline was observed in the BIST 100 index.

The 45th Civil Court of Istanbul sent a letter to the Istanbul Governorship and the Sarıyer First District Election Board regarding the suspension of the activities of the CHP Istanbul Provincial Extraordinary Congress. The letter argued that holding provincial congress elections was contrary to the court's previous precautionary decision.

The news of the decision caused the BIST 100 index to drop from 11,352 points to as low as 11,133 points.

CHP General Treasurer and Istanbul Deputy Özgür Karabat stated the following in a social media post regarding the decline:

"The judiciary, under the control of the AKP, has become the greatest tutelage over the economy. Illegal judicial decisions are leading to the sale of reserves, and sharp movements are occurring in the stock market. There were sharp sell-offs in the stock market due to an attempted judicial coup against the Istanbul congress. Who bought the shares at low levels? Who sold them when the stock market started to rise? Who signed off on this windfall within half an hour?"
