PROMOTION CODE INCENTIVE
In the indictment, it was stated that Ören promoted the illegal gambling by sharing advertising content on his social media account and encouraged his followers to play the game through a link that provided a promotion code for the site. Additionally, it was mentioned that users in the site application obtained in-game cosmetic items called "skins" or "items" by playing games under the name of "case opening" in exchange for a certain amount, and that these items had monetary value, which could be significantly lower or higher than the amount deposited, and that unfair gains based on chance were obtained by converting them into cash.
"I DID NOT KNOW THAT MY SHARES WERE A CRIME"
The indictment also included the statement of the suspect Ören. Stating that his monthly income is between 250,000 and 300,000 lira, Ören said the following:
"I have never played or promoted illegal betting or gambling games. In my shares, I have never made posts that encourage illegal betting or virtual gambling. My intention in the shares is not to encourage anyone to illegal betting or virtual betting. I do not gain anything from this. The in-game items remain fixed because I advertised this game from my account. I cannot sell these. I did not know that my shares were a crime. I do not accept the charges against me."
REQUEST FOR UP TO 3 YEARS IN PRISON
In the prepared indictment, it was requested that suspect Tolunay Ören be sentenced to imprisonment of 1 to 3 years for the crime of "advertising and promoting gambling games that have a cash equivalent without authorization."
