Customs Enforcement teams seized a total of 1.7 billion lira worth of drugs through operations conducted across Turkey. The teams intercepted substances such as 378.9 kg of cannabis, 117.4 kg of synthetic pills, and 225.5 kg of methamphetamine at various customs gates and airports.
The Customs Enforcement teams seized a large number of drugs in operations carried out at the Gürbulak, Edirne, Kapıköy, Hamzabeyli, and İpsala border gates, as well as at Mersin Port, Istanbul, and Antalya airports.
In a statement from the Ministry of Trade, it was reported that a significant amount of drugs was confiscated in operations conducted across the country since the first days of the year as part of the fight against drug trafficking.
MARKET VALUE 1.7 BILLION LIRA
In this context, the statement indicated that operations were carried out at the Gürbulak, Edirne, Kapıköy, Hamzabeyli, and İpsala border gates, as well as at Mersin Port, Istanbul, and Antalya airports, where a total of 378.9 kilograms of marijuana, 117.4 kilograms of synthetic pills, 225.5 kilograms of methamphetamine, 280,000 methadone pills, 7.6 kilograms of opium resin, and 3.1 kilograms of cocaine were seized, with a total market value of 1 billion 697 million lira.

In the statement, which provided information that the seized drugs were destroyed and the suspects were referred to judicial authorities, it was noted: "In line with the effective risk analysis and targeting studies conducted in the fight against drug trafficking, vehicles and shipments assessed as risky were meticulously checked with the participation of narcotic detector dogs using x-ray and other non-contact control systems. Our Customs Enforcement organization, which made various drug seizures amounting to 33.6 tons and valued at 44.9 billion lira last year, will continue its fight against drug trafficking and organized crime with determination and without interruption."
