After a complaint was made to CİMER in Balıkesir, the geese that were confined to their coop became the center of attention for vacationers again after a release decision was made, provided they do not enter the sea or go out on the street. The owner of the geese, Mehmet Keşniş, said, "People come and let the geese out of the garden, allowing them to enter the sea."
Geese that were complained about for swimming in the sea in Balıkesir and were locked in a coop, were 'conditionally released' from their coops on the condition of not entering the sea and not going out on the street, and became the center of attention for vacationers again as they started to leave the garden and head to the beach.
Mehmet Keşniş, a father of two living in the Erdek district, is known for his love of animals. Keşniş, who provides both café and camping services in the Sahil Neighborhood, started his farm life 11 years ago with 2 geese he bought on the advice of a friend to eat the weeds in his garden. Over time, the number of geese increased. Keşniş did not slaughter or sell the geese that grew in his garden. Every morning, the geese that come out of the café's garden in a flock have been going to the beach to swim for years. The number of geese, which reached 30 in 11 years, became the center of attention for those around, and when some people complained to CİMER about this situation, officials from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry asked Keşniş not to let the geese out and not to let them into the sea.
THEY STAYED IN THE COOP FOR 1 MONTH
While it is claimed that 8 of the geese locked in the coop died due to hot weather and stress, the geese in the coop were 'conditionally released' on July 21. After the news that caused a wide reaction on social media, officials from the District Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry stated that the geese could be taken out of the coop on the condition of not entering the sea and not going out on the street. Mehmet Keşniş and his daughter Başak Keşniş, to whom the decision was communicated, released the geese that had been locked in the coop for 1 month into the garden.
The geese, which were allowed to leave the coop on the condition of not entering the sea and not going out on the street, were able to roam in the garden and cool off with the water placed in their water containers. Vacationers who were curious about the geese began to visit Keşniş's garden, which resembles a farm, and started to take the geese to the beach with them. The geese that started to leave the garden and head to the beach again became the center of attention for vacationers. The geese brought to the beach cooled off under the shower with the vacationers.
"THE PUBLIC IS COMING TO TAKE THE GEESE OUT OF THE GARDEN"
Mehmet Keşniş stated that the geese that were conditionally released were taken to the beach by citizens, saying, "The public comes and takes the geese out of the garden and allows them to swim in the sea. They swim in the sea with them and then walk together on the beach. They take showers from the showers made by the municipality and then send them back to the garden where the coop is located."
"WE ARE POLLUTING THEIR NATURE"
Vacationers who give showers to the geese they see on the beach after coming out of the sea say that it is not the geese but the people who are polluting the environment, stating, "I don't think the animals are harmful; we are polluting their nature." Feyza Düdük (11), who says that the geese should be in nature, not in the coop, said, "They don't harm anyone; they should be free too. I think they are very sweet; they bring joy to people."
