An auction was held on September 29, 2025, in Istanbul by the Ilgaz Associations Federation to provide scholarship opportunities for students. During the event, 1 kilogram of wild honey belonging to Ilgaz honey producer Rıdvan Başeşme was purchased by businessman Hakan Özalp for 11,118 euros.

Following this, with the initiative of the Ilgaz Associations Federation, the honey produced in Ilgaz earned the right to enter the Guinness World Records as the world's most expensive honey. At the event held in a hotel in the Kurşunlu district, the certificate of Ilgaz honey was presented to Mustafa Anaçal, the President of the Ilgaz Associations Federation, by Guinness official judge Richard Stenning.
