Specialized teams from the Homicide Bureau of the Public Order Department conducted an investigation at the scene. The teams found the position of Geyik's body and the location of the pipe to which she was tied suspicious.
HER BOYFRIEND GAVE CONTRADICTORY STATEMENTS
In the investigation initiated regarding the incident, the statement of Dilan Geyik's boyfriend, Mustafa Bingöl, was taken. Due to Bingöl's contradictory statements, the teams assessed that the incident was attempted to be portrayed as a suicide. Evidence collected by the Homicide Bureau and the Crime Scene Investigation Department was secured. Following the instructions of İzmir Provincial Police Chief Celal Sel, a special team was established within the Homicide Bureau. The collected evidence was handed over to a special team formed by the İzmir Regional Criminal Police Laboratory Directorate for further analysis under the coordination of the Public Order Department.
SAID "I CAME ONCE," BUT ENTERED AND EXITED THE HOUSE 4 TIMES
In the joint efforts of the Homicide Bureau and the Crime Analysis Bureau, over 40 security cameras and approximately 15 License Plate Recognition System (LPR) cameras were reviewed, totaling 450 hours of footage. The movements of the suspect Mustafa Bingöl and his vehicle were examined. Although Bingöl stated in his testimony that he came to the building once on the day of the incident, it was found that he entered and exited 4 times. It was also determined that he was not at the pastry shop he operated during the time of the incident, but was inside the building for about 1 hour. Mustafa Bingöl was detained on December 20.
STRANGLED THE YOUNG GIRL AND WROTE A SUICIDE NOTE
Additionally, teams from the İzmir Regional Criminal Directorate determined that the suicide note, which was considered to have been left by Geyik before her suicide, was also written by Bingöl. Police teams found that Mustafa Bingöl and Dilan Geyik frequently argued due to jealousy, and that on the day of the incident, Bingöl opened the door to the house with a plastic bottle, strangled Geyik, and then attempted to make it look like a suicide. Furthermore, it was established that Bingöl called Geyik's aunt, claiming he could not reach her, which led to the discovery of the body.
COMMITTED SUICIDE IN PRISON
Mustafa Bingöl, whose procedures were completed, was arrested by the court he was brought to at the courthouse. Bingöl committed suicide in prison on December 22.
