The social media post of Yavuz Engin, the Chief Public Prosecutor of Büyükçekmece known for the Newborn Gang investigation, has sparked public debate, while Presidential Advisor Mustafa Akış reacted to the prosecutor without naming him, drawing attention to the social media usage of judicial members.

Publicly known for the Newborn Gang investigation, Büyükçekmece Chief Public Prosecutor Yavuz Engin stated on his social media account, "The person named Yılmaz Güney is a judge killer. He is an enemy of the state with a terrorist mentality." The post quickly became a topic of discussion, and the use of social media by judicial members was once again brought into question.

REACTION FROM THE PRESIDENT'S CHIEF ADVISOR

Chief Prosecutor Engin's post received a reaction from President's Chief Advisor Mustafa Akış without naming him. In his statement, Akış emphasized that the post in question was a form of "PR work" and was inconsistent with the seriousness of the state.

REFERENCE TO "INFLUENCER JUDGE/PROSECUTOR"

Akış noted that they have observed some judicial members making interaction-focused posts on digital platforms that do not align with the requirements and dignity of the profession. Stating that such posts create a perception of "influencer judge/prosecutor," Akış expressed that this harms the institutional respect of the judiciary and the trust in the judiciary.

EMPHASIS ON "SERIOUSNESS"

Akış pointed out that personal promotion through social media does not align with the seriousness that citizens expect from the justice institution, stating that such behaviors have no place in the state tradition. He emphasized that judicial members should prioritize professional dignity in their digital content and also reminded of the Judges and Prosecutors Council's Social Media Usage Guide.
