The monster father Murat Kılıç, who killed his children aged 11, 6, and 3 in Bursa, stated in court that he loved his children very much, saying, "On the day of the incident, I had an asthma attack, then I woke up, I cut my veins. I saw it wasn't working, I surrendered." The presiding judge reacted by asking, "Couldn't you stab yourself with the knife? If you want to hang yourself, hang yourself. Why did you kill your children?" and sentenced the defendant to three times life imprisonment.

A chilling incident occurred on the evening of May 29, 2024, in the basement of a four-story apartment located on Bağlar Street in the Çamlıca neighborhood of Bursa's Nilüfer district. Murat Kılıç (41), who made a living as a painter in homes, stabbed his daughters Zeynep (11) and Aslı Kılıç (6), and strangled his son Muhammet Ali Kılıç (3) to death. After the incident, Kılıç went to the police station and confessed to his crime. Teams that went to the address encountered the lifeless bodies of the three children.

The children's bodies were taken to the morgue of the Bursa Forensic Medicine Institution for an autopsy after the prosecutor's examination. The autopsy revealed approximately 20 stab wounds on the bodies of Murat Kılıç's daughters. The children's bodies were buried in the Karayazı district of Erzurum, where their mother Gülay Kılıç, who was separated from their father, lived.

ONLY CLOTHES HANGING ON THE WINDOW REMAINED

What remained of the siblings were the clothes that had been washed and hung on the window of their home. Murat Kılıç was arrested for 'intentional murder' by the 5th Peace Criminal Court on duty after being brought to the courthouse following his procedures at the police station.

"I DON'T KNOW WHAT I DID"

Kılıç, who is staying in a single cell in Bursa E-Type Closed Prison for his safety, stated in his testimony at the duty court that he had stayed at his father's house on the day of the incident, saying, "I woke up to go to work in the morning. I went to the market to buy cigarettes. During this time, I learned that a restraining order had been issued against me by the security forces due to my wife's complaint that I forcibly took my children away from her. I lost my mind, decided not to go to work. I went to the scene. I don't remember much. I don't know what I did. I realized what happened when my aunt called me on the phone. When I suddenly looked at myself, I saw that I was covered in blood. At that moment, I thought I was injured. I realized what I did at that moment. I remember changing my clothes at home and going outside, writing on papers. I tried to take my own life three times, but I couldn't. I am very regretful. I request to be released to be tried without detention," he was reported to have said.

HE WROTE ON NOTES WHERE HE KILLED HIS CHILDREN

In addition to the notes where he wrote the places he killed his children, Kılıç also left a note next to his children that read, "I had no psychological problems. They ruined my psychology by slandering me." In a report prepared by Manisa Mental Health and Diseases Hospital, it was stated that he had no mental illness and that he had full criminal responsibility for these acts.

"MY SON WAS VERY ATTACHED TO HIS CHILDREN"

Kılıç is being tried at the Bursa 8th Heavy Penal Court for three counts of aggravated life imprisonment for 'intentional murder against a descendant and against a person who cannot defend themselves physically or mentally.' Kılıç attended the hearing via the Audio and Visual Information System (SEGBİS) from the prison where he was detained. Present at the hearing were the defendant's mother Seher Kılıç, father Niyazi Kılıç, and his lawyer, as well as a lawyer from the Ministry of Family and Social Services. Seher Kılıç, who was given the floor during the hearing, said, "I did not see the incident. My son was very attached to his children. I want those who brought him to this situation to be investigated. Why did this happen, why did he do this? I want it to be investigated," she cried.

Seher Kılıç, stating that she had been married to Gülay Kılıç for 12 years, said, "They had four children, one of whom died due to illness. Ten months before the incident, Gülay took the children and went to Erzurum to her family. Murat had filed a complaint and obtained a restraining order against him. About a month before the incident, my son went to his hometown to get the children. They gave the children willingly. After my son brought the children, I was going during the day to take care of them. Shortly before the incident, I could not take care of the children for 10 days due to the mourning of my mother-in-law who passed away. The incident happened at that time. Murat did not receive any psychological treatment, nor did he take any medication. He has no drug addiction. He was a father who was very attached to his children," she expressed.

"I WENT INTO A FRENZY"

In his defense, Murat Kılıç, who claimed that his estranged wife set a trap for him, said:

"Gülay left my children helpless with slanders. She had me imprisoned. She had the father of her unwanted children imprisoned. She set a trap for me with her sister. I went into a frenzy. She told me, 'Take the children.' So I brought them from Erzurum. She gave the children to me. She took the children to the village, and together with her sister, set a trap for me. She filed a lawsuit, a threat case. There was no threat at all. My aunt and my family are witnesses to this. They sent me off while I was drinking tea at their house, and after I left, they gave a statement to the gendarmerie. I only saw the statement at the police station saying, 'I will take the children from you, you will never see them again.' I did not receive any court papers. My psychology was turned upside down. Should I grieve for my children or for myself?"

"I HUNG MYSELF BUT DID NOT DIE"

Kılıç, stating that he loved his children very much and attempted suicide on the day of the incident, said, "Normally, I am not a person who would harm my children. I am a person who changes my children's diapers. My mother and father are witnesses. I have never been a person who has inflicted violence on my children in my life. I wanted to die with my children. I wanted to leave this world. I wanted to commit suicide with my children. I hung myself, and half an hour later, I woke up again. I hung myself again. God does not take you until He wants. Half an hour later, I opened my eyes. Then I cut my veins. I saw it wasn't working, so I surrendered to the police," he expressed.

REACTION FROM THE JUDGE

After the defendant's statements, the judge reacted, saying, "So you couldn't stab yourself? Then why did you kill your children?" If you want to hang yourself, go ahead.

He reacted by asking, "If you want to commit suicide, why did you kill your children?"

3 TIMES LIFE IMPRISONMENT SENTENCE WAS GIVEN

Murat Kılıç, who stated that he was separated from his children for 1 year, said, "I just reunited with them, and this time they gave me 6.5 years in prison. I'm fed up now. I saw that it was 6.5 years in prison. My baby in the cradle is left without care. Should my old mother take care of them, or should my father take them to school? I saw that there was no way out, so I took them to my house in Nilüfer. They called me from the police station. I went, my ex-wife wanted the children back. The custody of the children is with her. What will happen if I take them? I will take them, and I will return to Bursa. They will call again, asking me to take the children," he said.

The court panel, which announced its decision, sentenced Murat Kılıç to life imprisonment three times for the crimes of 'deliberately killing a descendant', 'deliberately killing a child', and 'deliberately killing a woman'.
