Fifty-three students staying in the dormitories of the Credit and Dormitories Institution at Sivas Cumhuriyet University were taken to the hospital after experiencing symptoms of food poisoning following dinner. After the students fell ill, ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and some of them were treated.

The incident occurred around 01:00 at the Sancaktar Girls' Student Dormitory within the Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım campus of the Credit and Dormitories Institution located in Sivas Cumhuriyet University. Some of the university students who consumed a menu of ezogelin soup, roast meatballs, and sauced dumplings experienced nausea and vomiting complaints shortly after dinner.

Following the students' illness, ambulances were dispatched to the dormitory upon notification. Some students were taken to Sivas Cumhuriyet University Medical Faculty, Numune Hospital, and Sivas State Hospital's emergency department by health teams, while others went by their own means.
