In the second corruption operation targeting the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, 47 people were detained. Among those detained are high-ranking officials of the IMM, and Gözdem Ongun, the wife of Murat Ongun, the Chairman of the Board of Media A.Ş., who was arrested in the first IMM operation, is also included.
The corruption investigation against suspects, including Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was removed from his position as the Mayor of Istanbul following his arrest by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, continues. The charges include "being a leader of a criminal organization," "being a member of a criminal organization," "bribery," "extortion," "qualified fraud," "illegally obtaining personal data," and "interfering with a tender."
47 PEOPLE IN CUSTODY, 6 PEOPLE WANTED
As part of the investigation, detention orders were issued for 53 suspects. Following this, teams from the Financial Crimes Investigation Department detained 47 suspects in operations carried out in Istanbul, Ankara, and Tekirdağ. Searches at the homes and workplaces of the suspects are ongoing. Efforts to capture the 6 fugitives are continuing.
WHO HAS BEEN DETAINED?
As part of the new investigation, it was reported that İSKİ General Manager Şafak Başa, İBB Deputy Secretary General Arif Gürkan Alpay, İSKİ Deputy General Manager Begüm Çelikdelen, İBB Department of Urban Planning and Architecture Head Ramazan Gülten, İBB President Ekrem İmamoğlu's Chief of Staff Kadriye Kasapoğlu, and Gözdem Ongun, the wife of Murat Ongun, have been detained. Former CHP deputy Turan Aydoğan has also been detained.
GÖZDEM ONGUN, WIFE OF MURAT ONGUN, IS ALSO IN CUSTODY
Among those detained are Cevdet Kaya, the brother of Dilek İmamoğlu, and Gözdem Ongun, the wife of detained İBB Media AŞ Board Chairman Murat Ongun.
